What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the process of providing chest compressions together with rescue breathing in order to temporarily maintain the circulation of blood and oxygen to preserve brain function until further medical help is available.

CPR should be started immediately if the casualty is unresponsive and not breathing

Course Overview

This course is based on the unit of competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which is recognised Australia wide.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is the name given to the technique of combining rescue breaths with external compressions.

CPR involves chest compressions (pressing down on the chest) and artificial respiration (rescue breathing/mouth to mouth).

It has the power to restore blood flow and oxygen to someone suffering cardiac arrest, keeping them alive until an ambulance arrives.

Course outline:

Part 1 – Online theory
Part 2 – Practical assessment

  • There is an online quiz which you must complete. You will be provided with login details to the quiz once you have made payment for the course.
  • We suggest completing your online quiz this prior to attending the practical assessment.
  • Certificates will only be issued once you have successfully completed both the online quiz and practical assessment.
  • Must bring photo ID with you to training.
  • It is recommended that your refresh your CPR training every 12 months.
