The White Card course (CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is mandatory for anyone working on a construction site in Australia. This includes people who may never work on a building on their own, but still must be present on a construction site – like an accountant who may visit a temporary office at a construction site.
To get your white card, you need to have successfully completed your coursework and test with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). But you may be wondering if it’s possible to fail, and what happens if you do not pass your test the first time. In this blog from Skillsify, we’ll discuss what you need to know.

It’s Possible To Fail The White Card (CPCCWHS1001) Test

The final White Card test is known as a “live verbal assessment.” In this test, you will be asked questions to assess your knowledge of the White Card course content.

It is entirely possible to fail this test. In fact, you must obtain a perfect score of 100 points out of 100 to pass – so it’s not uncommon for people to fail the White Card test.

There is also a time limit of 30 minutes. If you do not complete the final test by this time limit, it will be counted as a failure.

What Happens If I Fail The White Card Test?

Typically, you are allowed to sit for a White Card test twice. If you fail the first time you take it, you will immediately be allowed to take the White Card test again, and if you pass, you will be able to get your White Card.

If you fail again, however, you will have to retake the White Card course content before sitting for the exam. This will continue until you pass the White Card test. There is no limit on how many times you can take the test.

In addition, if you are failing due to improper proficiency with the English language, you may be required to furnish a certified copy or original documents such as a Statement of Attainment, Certificate of Completion, record of attendance, or a statement letter from an ESL tutor. This evidence must be signed by a Justice of the Peace.
